Meet Mike Stuart

I am a serial entrepreneur...I love all things business. I am self motivated, disciplined and slightly over the top in pretty much everything I do.

I, like most entrepreneurs, may NEVER be satisfied with working for someone else…period. I feel like it means settling for much less than I am capable of accomplishing. Entrepreneurship isn’t for everyone, but for me, it’s the only thing. I’m the type of person that falls asleep reading business books and wakes up thinking about how to build a new Web site. My wife jokes that I should try reading a novel. But business fascinates me, intrigues me, and just plain makes me happy.

My mission: To inspire, influence, and to "lead" a legacy.

Most important to me...God, Family and Freedom. Financial and time freedom is very important, but it does not mean that you have to have $10 Million in the bank. It means creating a business that allows you to take advantage of opportunities to live the lifestyle you desire. It means giving you passive income and the time to enjoy the life, and your family. I call it leading a "Legacy Lifestyle". One that your kids will look back on and remember mom and dad always being there in the important times. Having memorable family vacations, and bonding times together, and taking advantage of teachable moments.

I started out in college studying business, but that didn't last long. I felt lead by God to do more in the world than make a ton of money. I landed at a Theological Seminary where I got my degree. I learned how to lead, counsel and develop people, leaders and servants. That was invaluable training for business.

Ministry lasted for 6 years...then I started my own business. It was a venture development firm with an "Anti Venture Capital" Philosophy. Traditional VC's "Find, Fund and Fix" that is, they Find high growth potential companies, Fund them with tons of cash, and then typically within 2 years rip out the management, technologists and execs to Fix whatever might be wrong. My philosophy was different...Find high growth potential companies, Fix them, by infusing minimal capital into the company for market research, creating revenue and a solid proof of concept...figure out the system. Then once the growth curve is proven, go after funding. We had dozens of clients and this methodology worked beautifully and allowed me to create successful companies.

I was CEO of one of these high growth companies and lead the company through major negotiations, due diligence and eventual sale. I became the VP of Sales and Marketing for the public company that bought us and then moved to the VP of Mergers and Acquisitions. It was fun, but not entrepreneurial. I had to start something else.

Through out the years of my entrepreneurial ups and downs I learned some extremely valuable lessons. I call them Legacy Lessons. I wanted to make my next entrepreneurial adventure teaching others the lessons about business and life that I have learned over the last 20 years. So, I started speaking, teaching and coaching.

I understand one of the main reasons that entrepreneurs start businesses. To attain financial and time freedom for them and their Family. But many entrepreneurs get so focused on the goal or objective, that they lose site of the very reason for doing what they do. I coach entrepreneurs because I know from personal experience that they usually regret their personal sacrifices more than most people. For me, there is no greater sadness than seeing families left behind in the wake of a “successful” entrepreneur.

I have found that leading the Legacy Lifestyle is absolutely the most fulfilling and rewarding lifestyle.

I recently helped start a church in downtown Des Moines, where I serve on the leadership team (www.rechurchgathering.com )

I have a smokin hot wife and 5 awesome kids! Our only daughter was recently adopted from Korea!

We love to travel and take missions trips to help others less fortunate.

I am an avid outdoors-man and love hunting, fishing, and camping.
